this trip was a 10 car pile up of mishaps, poor planning, and bad luck. the original idea was to backpack in Zion National Park for a couple of nights and check out some nearby state parks. i barely made it into Zion for an afternoon, on what was probably the most crowded day of the year. among the many lessons, one is that i’m not built for the southwestern climate. it felt like it took me a couple of days to cool down after i got back home to the bay area.
